Meanwhile in Oakland: 60 year old man tries to set fire to the airport
NBC Bay Area – A 60-year-old man was arrested Friday for allegedly trying to set some cardboard on fire inside the Terminal 1 baggage claim at Oakland International Airport, police said.
It’s unclear what he set the cardboard on fire with. Oakland fire department officials responded to the airport around 3:30 a.m. but the fire was already out when they arrived.
A TSA agent spotted the incident and immediately called the Alameda Co Sheriff, an Oakland Airport spokesperson said.
Sheriffs deputies responded and were able to take the man into custody.

It’s not yet clear whether the man fled after starting the fire.
No equipment, flights or passengers were impacted because of the fire. Nobody was injured in the incident.
Classic Oakland, even their airport sucks. Pretty sure it’s just Alaska Airlines and Southwest that fly in there to begin with and everyone grimaces at the idea of going there for a flight. Pretty sure you could offer me a flight to Hawaii, first class and if it was out of Oakland, even for $1, I’d have to stop and think about it.
But again, who knows why this guy did it. Maybe he’s a pyro but I’d lean towards his flight getting delayed and him not getting a hotel from the airline. Why, you may ask? It’s because waiting in the airport after all the bars and shops have closed down is the single worst thing in the world let alone it’s the Oakland airport. People get bored and they wanna do something to spice it up. I get that, hell it was just cardboard, not hurting anyone there. Old baseball trick.
