Richmond man caught robbing ice cream store of ice cream
KRON4 – An armed man was arrested after attempting to steal ice cream from a Richmond market and pointing his gun at the employees who confronted him, a police spokeswoman said Tuesday.
The attempted robbery happened around 6 p.m. Monday at the Bayview Meat and Fish store at 1025 S. 47th St., according to Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov.
When two workers saw the suspect trying to steal ice cream and stopped him, the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at them, she said.
Abetkov said it appears the suspect pulled back the gun’s slide to place a bullet in the weapon’s chamber but did not fire it.
He then ran from the store, but officers caught him a short time later.
The suspect, a 28-year-old Richmond man, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and brandishing a weapon and was taken to county jail in Martinez.
No injuries were reported during the attempted robbery.
Some would call this a crime of passion, but I think this guy had an agenda, a very smart and calculated agenda. Richmond is hot as fuck in the summertime and although the dry, dry heat and triple digits haven’t hit the Bay Area yet, this man has an industrial sized cooler ready to just start dishing out ice cream to the neighborhood or a truck to sell scoops at a discount. Pure profit the whole way through all summer long. Perhaps he’s seasonal like the Ex-Presidents, gets his scores in the late winter/early spring then rides out the wave all summer/fall till next year. Who would think to hit an ice cream store? Low security, high value on the street. Perfect plan.
Or maybe he’s a crack addict who loves ice and cream and for him the action is the juice. Also, ice cream/crack cocaine is the juice.
